FAQ

The answers to your most frequently asked questions

Do I have to choose a specific programme in advance or can I decide this on site?

It makes sense to decide on a programme when you make your reservation, as we will then be able to provide you with all the necessary information in advance (e.g. for your treatment preparation at home). The specific treatments within the booked programme are determined by the Ayurvedic practitioner during the initial consultation. The Ayurvedic practitioner will take into account your constitutional type and current state of health and will design an individual treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. Individual adjustments of the booked programme will be charged according to the valid price list.

Can I book a stay without Ayurveda treatments and just the accommodation and the Ayurvedic full board?

Of course, you can also book a stay without Ayurveda treatments and simply enjoy our delicious Ayurveda cuisine, relax in the special atmosphere of our hotel, harmonise body and mind with the daily yoga and meditation programme or deepen your knowledge of Ayurveda in the lectures given by our Ayurveda experts.

Please note that as a pure Ayurveda hotel, we serve our vegetarian and healthy Ayurveda Cuisine to all guests, whether they are receiving Ayurvedic treatments or not. In addition, we serve only herbal teas and hot water, but no alcoholic beverages, no coffee or black/green tea, and no cold or soft drinks.

Is it possible to book a stay for a group?

Yes, it is possible to book a group stay for max. 6 people (e.g. family or friends). However, we do not offer group discounts.

Can I put together a treatment programme myself?

Experience has shown that Ayurvedic treatments have a very profound effect. It is therefore up to the Ayurvedic practitioner to put together a treatment programme that is tailored to your health needs. Individual wishes and preferences will be taken into account as far as possible, if there is no objection from an Ayurvedic medical point of view.

Can I spontaneously book treatments on site?

Experience has shown that Ayurvedic treatments have a very profound effect. Spontaneous bookings are therefore only possible after prior consultation with the Ayurvedic practitioner and depend on the capacity of our therapy area. We recommend early consultation and booking, especially during the high season.

Why are the Ayurvedic treatments only possible after a consultation with the Ayurvedic practitioner?

Experience has shown that Ayurvedic treatments have an intensive and profound effect on the organism. In order to exclude contraindications, a prior consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner is standard at the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen. As a trustworthy provider of Ayurvedic medicine, we cannot make any exceptions, even for our regular guests or guests who feel healthy and fit.

Are there any cases where Ayurvedic treatments are not possible?

Yes, there are a number of contraindications to the practice of Ayurvedic treatments.
These include, among others:

  • acute colds
  • acute infections
  • acute bone fractures
  • acute relapses of chronic diseases
  • antibiotics and cortisone intake (also recently)
  • recent surgical procedures
  • chemotherapy
  • pregnancy

During menstruation Ayurvedic treatments can only be carried out to a very limited extent.

For a detailed list of contraindications please contact our reception team. If you have any questions or concerns, we will be happy to provide you with detailed, non-binding and discreet advice about your ability to participate in the programme. Please contact us directly at our Ayurveda medical office on +49(0) 6541-705-230 or by e-mail.

Should I prepare for a Panchakarma treatment at home?

Yes, absolutely, because the pre-treatment at home is an important part of a complete Panchakarma treatment. We recommend that you book your stay at least 4 weeks in advance to allow sufficient time for effective preparation at home. Detailed instructions on how to prepare for the treatment (e.g. gentle diet and lifestyle changes) will be sent to you with your booking confirmation once you have made your reservation.

What do I have to consider after a Panchakarma treatment?

The follow-up treatment at home is an important part of a complete Panchakarma treatment and helps to integrate the success of your treatment. It should ideally last twice as long as your stay at the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen. You will receive detailed recommendations during your stay.

What is my daily routine during a Panchakarma treatment?

There is no such thing as a “typical” daily routine, as your daily appointments will depend on your individual treatment plan and development of your cure. Usually you will have at least one treatment appointment per day. In addition, you will have Ayurvedic meals at regular times and intermittently your Ayurvedic medical consultations. You will also have the opportunity to participate in our complimentary daily yoga and meditation sessions or take advantage of our additional offerings. These include natural beauty treatments, craniosacral therapy, physiotherapy or our Ayurvedic cooking workshops. Every evening our Ayurveda experts give lectures on a variety of topics (in English or German). Often, as a result of the Ayurvedic treatments, you will feel a great need to rest during your stay, which you should certainly indulge in. Your body needs rest to regenerate.

Can I do sports during the Panchakarma treatment?

Our experience is that the Ayurvedic treatments have a profound effect. Often during your stay, you will feel a strong need to rest, which you should definitely indulge in, as your body needs the rest to cope with the inner detoxification and regeneration processes. For this reason, if you are not used to regular exercise, you should avoid physical exertion during your treatment. However, on most days you can go for a short walk or join a group yoga class.

What are detox beverages?

This generic term includes both herbal detox beverages and Ayurvedic Ghee (pure butter fat). Herbal detox beverages contain spices and herbal mixtures, while Ghee is of animal origin. Both are used in the first phase of treatment to remove metabolic residues from the body’s cells. Thus, we speak of the “Ghee or detox days”. The Ayurvedic practitioner will determine which detoxification beverage you will receive during your initial consultation.

Why does full board cost €95 per day, if on some days I am not allowed to attend breakfast or only soup is served?

All our meals are freshly prepared every day, and the ingredients used and the food and beverages offered at the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen are almost exclusively from certified organic cultivation.

The price for our Ayurvedic full board is a mixed calculation. Any special diet plans based on the course of the cure are, of course, taken into account.

I want to lose weight. What result can I expect after a 10-day treatment?

As an esteemed provider of Ayurvedic treatments, we cannot promise that you will lose a certain amount of weight during a particular treatment and time frame. How much weight you lose depends on many factors, including your individual constitution and current state of health. In any case, you should discuss your wishes with the Ayurvedic practitioner during the initial consultation. She can work with you to decide if a Kapha diet is possible during your stay. In fact, most Panchakarma guests lose a few kilos due to the change in diet and other cure procedures.

What are the advantages of a Panchkarma treatment in Germany as compared to India or Sri Lanka, the countries of its origin?

There are many reasons that speak in favour of doing the intensive Panchakarma treatment in Germany. We have compiled the 10 most convincing reasons for you in our blog:

At what age is it possible to stay at the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen? Can I bring my child?

Unlike many other Ayurveda providers who have positioned themselves more in the wellness sector, our offer is aimed exclusively at guests who are interested in an Ayurveda programme under professional Ayurvedic medical guidance and in-depth Ayurvedic treatments. Due to the intensity of our Ayurveda programmes and the associated need for rest for our guests, children under the age of 16 are not permitted. Also visits of younger children are unfortunately not possible.

Can I bring my dog to the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen?

Due to the intensity of our Ayurveda programmes, our guests have a great need for rest. As a future guest, we recommend that you concentrate on yourself during your treatment and leave your dog in good hands during your Ayurveda stay. We also have many guests with various health conditions, including allergies and skin problems, so that a stay with a dog in our hotel is unfortunately not possible.

However, we are happy to recommend a dog kennel in the area that many of our guests have had good experiences with.

Why is there no Wi-Fi in the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen?

As a place of rest and relaxation we would like to offer you the opportunity to take a real OFF-time during your stay, in the sense of ‘Digital Detox’. It has been our experience that this makes it much easier for our guests to disconnect from their smartphones for a while and find a new form of mindfulness for themselves. We also try to minimise disturbing influences caused by electromagnetic radiation.

For these reasons, we deliberately do not use Wi-Fi in Ayurveda Parkschlösschen. However, our Internet room with two workstations is available to you free of charge around the clock (cable, no WLAN). All rooms also have a dLAN connection.

Is there a dress code?

We kindly ask you not to wear your bathrobe in the public areas of the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen (lobby, restaurant). Of course, this does not apply if you are on your way to the Ayurveda therapy department or Veda Thermal Baths, or if you want to pick up your morning detox beverage in the restaurant. You are welcome to wear your everyday clothes to meals. Evening wear is not required.

What is the average age of the guests at the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen?

Most guests at the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen are between 40 and 65 years old. However, with the growing health awareness in society in recent years, we have also seen a significant increase in the number of younger guests finding their way to us. There is virtually no upper age limit. Our oldest regular guest, who has been visiting us for many years is now 92.

Is the Ayurveda Parkschlösschen barrier-free?

Due to the architecture of the building, which is protected as a historical site, as well as the nature of the Ayurveda treatments, wheelchair accessibility is limited. We will be happy to advise you personally in this regard – please contact our reception.
